CROSS-FIRE VETTE

All the upgrades listed on this page have increased my Cross Fires performance.

One of the best all around shocks are KYB. They handle great and allow still a normal ride. Not only that but they allow the under side of your hood to look nice also. With the white paint and red decals they really set off the motor compartment.

KYB Shocks

BFG Drag Radial

255/50-16 BFG Drag Radials. These tires change the way the car comes out of the hole. The compound they are made of is very, very sticky. Even at normal air pressures they still grab better then any nomarl tire. Also I have found them to handle as good or better then a normal VR or ZR tire. The only down fall is that they will only last about 10,000 miles. Luckly my Vette stays at home.

The most latest mod that I have done is put on 1.6 ratio roller rockers from Comp Cams. There is a lot of questions about roller rockers and let me sum it up:
1. THEY WILL FIT UNDER STOCK VALVE COVERS WITH NO MODS TO DRIPPERS.
2. THEY WILL NOT MAKE THE CAR LOPE AT IDLE ANY DIFFERENT.
3. THEY WILL PRODUCE REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER AT THE TOP END!!
Your Vette will run smoother and run a little faster. The power gain is at the top end of the RPM's so it's a perfect add on for Cross-Fires. With the roller tips it allows to free up horsepower and with the ratio changed it like adding a different cam to your car. (See Comp Cams.com for more info)

One of the most creative mod that I have done is to set up a cold air induction or ram air to the air intake. From the factory the 84 corvette came with tunnels in the hood that forced air off the hot motor into the engine. By cutting holes into the air box below it allows cold air to be forced into the twin throttle bodies. This mod shown above is an example, my hole is cut to match the above hole in the hood. Also the foam tape allows tight connection between the cold air coming in from below and the tunnel entrance. This mod will be noticed at the top end of the RPM's. This mod comes from www.crossfire.homeip.net

Part # E-1984 K & N filter

Every one should have a K & N filter. They last forever and breath great. Your not going to feel any difference but in your head but it is helpful for future mods.
For 1984 Corvette the part Number is:
E - 1984

Since it is such a rare filter.(Only used on one car in the whole world!!) This filter is usually over $80.00.

With the nitrous and quality in mind, I ran a UR4 plug. UR4 is a standard plug and should work with the nitrous.

The Best Oil!!!!!

Mobil one oil is what comes from the factory at Corvette right know. So I figure I could not go wrong with Mobil One Syn. The Prolong additive is nice for keeping everything lubed up and running smooth as possible.

NOS kit # 5125

NOS system on my Cross Fire

Nitrous Oxide Systems has developed a kit that not many are familar with. It is kit #5125 and is a wet system that is just for the Cross-fire Corvettes. This kit is a 125 shot or 125 HorsePower kit. The kit includes everything that will be needed. It is actived by a mirco switch that mounts easily on your intake manifold. The best place I found to purchase this kit is with JEG's for the price or Summit racing will match their price if you like Summit. No mod to your fuel pump is required if you have correct fuel pressure. The kit is very detailed and will take one full weekend to install. Rember to not use teflon tape! Use only teflon paste, which can be found at any hardware store. I also purchased a bottle blanket and heater. Correct bottle pressure is a must for the system to work correctly. NOS tech department recommends 950 to 1000 PSI. DO NOT GO OVER 1100 PSI or problems could occur. Also a pressure gauge for the bottle does not come with the NOS kit so you will need to buy one. ($35.00) Happy Hunting!!!!

US Strang Gear

My 1984 Corvette came with a 3.07 gear from the factory. If you have a automatic 1984 your car came with a Dana 36 and is a 3 carrier. The only optional gear for 84 was the 3.31 gear. I purchased a US gear from Cal gear. It is a 3.73 gear and sure is fun to drive. I have only tested the car one time and it increased almost a half of a second, but I feel it will do even better.
